Exams

Wow what an amazing exam debut!!!!!!  Well done to everyone who took part, Honours all around – the highest mark available.  I know you were nervous, but it would appear you had absolutely nothing to worry about.  On to the next one now………  Well done to Jenny for all her hard work, it certainly paid off.  We are looking for the first student to achieve 90%, could it be a someone from street level.

Show

A massive massive congratulations to everyone who participated in our show.  This was a huge success so thank you for turning my strange ideas into a reality.  No idea as yet how I am going to top that one.   I know I said it on the night, but a huge thank you to all of those parents who gave up their time to help.  The show really could not have gone on without you, thank you soooo much.  You have no idea how much you are loved and appreciated.

Show costumes

As we said at the outset, the costume contribution you pay is more like a hire charge.  If you loved your costume so much that you cannot bear to be apart from it, then please speak to me.  We can then assess how much your costume actually cost compared to what you have already paid, and work out the balance to pay, if any, and you can then take your costume home.

N.B.  All tights, whatever colour, remain your property and as such you will be charged for them separately.  If you left them, they will be returned to you.  This means both the shimmer and coloured tights.

If you ordered items for the show, i.e. body stockings or shoes, then again these will be billed at some point during the next week or so.

Fees

Are mostly paid.  There are one or two outstanding ones, mainly due to us having to cancel classes due to snow and bereavement, see further down this newsletter for more information on this.

Missed Classes

Just to clarify our policy on missed classes, whether due to rehearsals or snow/bereavements, it is as follows :-

If a class is missed please attend ANY other class in the timetable at ANY Centre to make up your missed class.

We have such a full timetable that unfortunately we cannot always put classes back in.  However, it should be possible for you to get an extra class doing the same work, or try something new for a change.  Sophie has said that she will run her Monday classes on Monday 13th April, but as this is Easter Monday we are not sure whether you would want this.  Please get back to me as soon as possible and we will go with the majority.

Exams

Both RAD and IDTA exams are looming, and I will deal with each in turn.

IDTA Examinations

These are scheduled to take place over the weekend of 25th and 26th April.  The 25th will be at Alwoodley and the 26th at East Ardsley.  Wherever possible students will be kept at their own Centres (or the one closest to them).  You should know what exams you are scheduled to do, and bills for the exam fees will be circulated shortly.  These must be paid upon receipt.

RAD Examinations

These are scheduled to take place between 21st to 29th June at both Centres.  I am in the process of sorting these out and will get back to you as soon as possible.

Alwoodley Community Association Gala

We have been asked to perform at this year’s gala.  This will take place on Sunday 14th June between 1pm and 5pm.  We will start to put together some class dances, and would love as many as you as possible to participate.  There may be a costume contribution but this will be kept to a minimum, and you will need your shimmer tights, but no other costs are expected.

Competitions

Now the show is out of the way, please let me know if you wish to become involved in competitions.  If so, we will get started on your individual dances.

Timetable Changes

There will be a few changes to the timetable, the ones I know about at the minute are as follows :-

The Alwoodley Grade 5 ballet class will be moved to a Monday at 4.30pm with immediate effect.

The Alwoodley Street class is now running on Tuesdays at 5.30pm with immediate effect.

Richard Johnston and Georgina Johnson will start their tap exam class on Monday at 4.30pm with immediate effect.

RAD Days of Dance

RAD Day of Dance – Coppelia 6th December

You should have received this via email, but if not please take a form from your Centre.  These are open to all children from age 4 and will be fantastic.  Places will go quickly so don’t delay, get your form off to London to avoid disappointment.

Yorkshire and Humber Award

This is a new Award Day which will run annually.  The first ever one will take place on October 6th at LeedsGrammar School.  A flyer will be sent via email with more details as soon as they are published.

Yorkshire Assembly

Don’t forget to book up for this.  See their website Yorkshire Assembly for more information.

Photo Shoot Day

James is still coming in and out the School with your pictures.  You should have received an email from him telling you how much your photos cost, as soon as you pay this then he will arrange for them to be printed and brought to the school.  If you brought your friends, please can you tell them so they can get their lovely photos.

Summer Classes

I am in the process of sorting out our summer program – if you have any suggestions please let us know.  Regular classes will not run, but we will run day long workshops.  Details will follow shortly.
